Yelp.
Yelp, aside from Time Out Chicago, is what gave me the idea to start Diana’s Thumb. I love seeing “People love us on Yelp” stickers at local businesses and going on Yelp only to find that people actually HATE them!
I very often go on Yelp to see what people think of the restaurant I’ve been meaning to try or what kind of funny comments my friends are making. I don’t necessarily depend on Yelp reviews to make or break my decision on whether to check out a new place, but it’s still fun to read. It’s a great place to find brand new places to eat or shop or whatever around you. It’s also a great site to visit if you want to laugh! People are pretty hilarious on Yelp. Let’s face it: people love to talk, especially about their own thoughts and opinions. Yelp lets people do that, and others actually read it. So, get yourself on Yelp (as a business or consumer) and get some reviews going!
